Take a trip with the wedding party for Toitoi Collective’s brand new kiwi stage musical! THREE FORTY ONE: The Climate Musical – hits Eastgate Christian Centre, Pakuranga, 28-30 March & 4-5 April.
Writer/director Steve Worsley was inspired to write this show after viewing a sobering documentary about the existential threat the climate crisis poses to the islands of Kiribati. In the creation of this show, Steve gained significant advice and insights from the Auckland and Warkworth Kiribati and Tuvalu communities.
Steve said, “Every day we are confronted with reports of changing weather and concerning future scenarios. What do we make of it all, and how do we respond to claims that poor countries are being disproportionately affected? These are such important questions. Much has been written, but we started to imagine what it would be like if we were to bring these questions to life through music and drama.”
THREE FORTY-ONE follows the story of a brother and sister who work at the island resort where their ancestral homes are on borrowed time. It highlights the importance of home, what it means to lose it, and the massive implications when our world’s coastal regions and island nations must be abandoned due to the ravages of climate change.
The impressive cast line-up includes Rebecca McFadzien (Bad Kiwis, Shortland Street), Kassidy Kinvig (Tearfund, Spark NZ) Jim Paea (Brutal Lives) Emme Lentino (Scrooge) and Reuben Simpson (The Music Man, Catch Me if You Can) and Lynn Webster Oram, who has performed professionally on both Broadway and the West End.
